Tracy Ward “It's been seven years since I've had a raise! Fred Meyer continues to have record-breaking profits. We deserve a fair contract."

Alan Hunt “Fred Meyer workers deserve no less than what we got at Safeway and Albertsons. Affordable healthcare and living wages keep our community strong. If we can stand together, we can send a strong message to Fred Meyer to do the right thing."

Rose Bayse “I’ve been a union member for 17 years. I believe the only way to guarantee what we already have (in writing) and improve upon it is by standing together. Our union gives us a voice in our wages and working conditions.”

Rally In Salem For A Fair Contract

We are here today to share with the community that we are frustrated with Fred Meyer at the bargaining table. We want to work happily with Fred Meyer to make Fred Meyer / Kroger Co. successful and to continue to promote our communities’ prosperity.

However, we don’t have a fair contract today. We are fighting for Affordable Healthcare, Living Wages, and a Secure Retirement.

Our counterparts in the Portland Area grocery, meat, and checkouts at Fred Meyer recently got a fair contract that allows for these same things, but because we live in the Albany/Corvallis/Salem Area Fred Meyer believes we deserve less.

We are asking for your support today... Will you help us let Fred Meyer know that a fair contract is good for our community?

It's A Matter Of Respect

From Coos Bay to Longview, Salem, Portland, Corvallis, Albany and to The Dalles, UFCW Local 555 members are joining together to settle a fair contract. A fair contract means…
  • Living Wages
    • CCK/Grocery work = CCK/Grocery pay, no matter your title.
    • Equitable wage scales – Same company, same work, same pay, no matter your town.
    • Wage increase no matter your class.
  • Secure Retirement
  • Affordable Healthcare
    • All members on the Portland Health & Welfare plan no matter your hometown.
  • RESPECT
    • Wages, healthcare, & retirement are a sign of respect.
    • Negotiating a fair contract is a sign of respect.
    • Our employer gets the same respect they give us.

We All Deserve The Same

A united UFCW Local 555 committee was back at the bargaining table with Fred Meyer on Wednesday, June 16. Non-food members from all across the jurisdiction gathered in Portland to send a message that regardless of where they live and work they all deserve the same benefits.
